Targeted support services

This indicator is useful for evaluating whether the real needs of victims of trafficking are considered. The indicator will ideally shed light as to whether the services provided were carefully considered for each individual.

Calculation:

• Numerator: Number of identified victims who receive direct support based on needs assessment.
• Denominator: Total number of victims identified by stakeholders.
• Percentage = Numerator/ Denominator x 100.

Data Collection:

Ensure that the project works closely with service providers and maintains a monitoring system which keeps track of:

• number of identified survivors who receive support services
• number of survivors who receive an appropriate needs assessment

• Gender
• Age Group
• Country of Origin
• Type of Direct Support: Shelter, Protection, Legal Assistance, Medical and Psychosocial Services, etc.

Note: You can choose any number of ways to disaggregate data if useful for your project, for example GESI-related disaggregation (disability, ethnicity, etc.). 

Definitions:

Direct Support includes shelter and rehabilitation, legal, medical, and psychological counselling, education, reintegration assistance, and life skills and vocational training. This indicator is intended to cover services for victims of all forms of trafficking and for victims of all ages. One off support will not be counted, such as one-off food donations or one-off bus tickets.

Needs assessment is a systematic process for determining and addressing needs, or "gaps" between current conditions and desired conditions or "wants". Needs include different aspects of physical health, mental health, social, livelihood, and legal.

Note: For the purpose of this indicator, needs of TIP survivors are related to their wellbeing and protection. Only trained social workers are allowed to conduct needs assessments and work on referrals, after the needs assessment with the client.
